A Summer Wedding with an Unexpected Twist
When you first think of a summer wedding, light, bright colors come to mind – whites, pinks, green, yellow. But this wedding at Hummingbird’s Nest Ranch proves that black, yes, black, can add a sophisticated touch to any event.
Marjan and Julian chose the broad vistas of Hummingbird’s Nest Ranch for their wedding, the perfect blank canvas for their vision. A large pergola-style structure encompassed a lounge area, tables, and dance floor for the reception; the ceremony featured a mirror walkway, mirrored chuppah, and tons of white flowers, including callas and orchids.
Most eye-catching of all, the reception design highlighted chic black touches in the form of black curtains backing the stage, our cylinder and bud vases, and lounge furniture. Significant sweeps of greenery – and we mean, a lot – hung from the overhead wood beams of the structure, down its columns, and throughout the reception space, bridging the gap between the snow-white flowers and the black vases and furniture. This blend of light, dark, and. medium shades and a consistency in modern, clean shapes allowed the black to vibe with the color scheme, not fight it.
When working with a unique color scheme, it can be hard to visualize at first. We often provide sketches as well as mockups so clients can see how our design comes together, and we work with the rest of the design team to execute a seamless look.
We worked with a fantastic team, including planner Charlene Sedgh from L’amour Events, Rene Zadori Photography, and Hummingbird Nest Ranch.
