Pink comes in so many shades – blush, fuchsia, mauve, hot pink – and the flower world offers lots of variations of this romantic color. So when Shruti and Alec came to us to design their Calamigos Malibu wedding, we couldn’t wait to use the wide spectrum of pinks available to us. First, the ceremony: We built a clear, modern mandap with acrylic and bordered the top with a mix of pink and ivory flowers. We also swagged a beautiful pink-mauve chiffon fabric along the top and sides of the structure. Calla lilies have long been popular for wedding and event decor, with their sculptural, trumpet-like shape. While their symbolism varies, callas mainly represent life, an affirming meaning especially for a wedding – as two people join together for a new life ahead. Kasey and Evan planned a small wedding at the Montage Laguna Beach, and envisioned the classic elegance of callas for their celebration. We twisted baby callas in hurricanes of water, fashioned large, grand centerpieces of multiple vases of the flowers, and lined the existing bar at the Montage with a stunning all-calla display. For this exquisite affair, our couple wanted crisp lines and elegant details, and all white florals. We combined acrylic and glass elements with white calla lilies and orchids, for an absolutely stunning event at Casa Del Mar.
