What a dreamy wedding! This Hummingbird Nest Ranch celebration was full of soft romance, from our multiple round arches framing the ceremony to the arrangements in pretty stone pots down the aisle, to the awe-inducing canopy of greenery and roses in the reception tent. Clara and Noah wanted a light palette of blush, pink, and ivory, accented by a generous heaping of greenery. We also added the arrangements in individual concrete pots finished in a rustic ivory, as if they were taken from the garden of an English estate. The arch motif continued in the reception tent, where arches were placed over guest tables and behind the sweetheart table. Collections of vases holding roses; alstilbe; and lisianthus lined the tables,... Read More

A fall wedding brings to mind rich autumnal colors, like copper, terra cotta, and goldenrod. For Mercedes and Kyle’s wedding at a private home, we created a gorgeous design full of vibrant textures and shades that brought both a natural charm and easy elegance to their celebration. The backyard of the home featured a pool, and we floated curves of rose petals in golden-yellow and burnt orange. We also lined a rustic wood aisle with arrangements of wildflowers, roses, and greenery in orange, red, coral, and even touches of blue. The dining tables featured tall centerpieces of rustic branches, greenery, and flowers. We also scattered pots in complimentary colors including copper and bronze. A delightful surprise: pots of mini peppers,... Read More

One of our specialties is creating lush overhead installations of florals. Usually, you need a ballroom ceiling to do that type of thing! But working with the right vendors, we can create such drama anywhere. In this case, we worked with Town & Country Event Rentals to accent Alexandra and Mattan’s dance floor at their venue, Hummingbird Nest Ranch. Town and Country created a framework of trussing for us so we could safely attach our florals, and the result was a stunning installation of white orchids with accents of greenery. We also lined the arches of the Ranch’s architecture with lush garlands of more greenery and classically beautiful white flowers. Our chuppah echoed this color scheme, too, a gorgeous showpiece... We love cherry blossoms – the perfect combination of pretty blooms and the rusticity of tree branches. Carrie and Dan wanted a natural wood and floral chuppah at their La Quinta Resort wedding; we created a structure with a blend of florals, including lots and lots of cherry blossoms. We also cascaded a lovely unfurling of tons of blush and ivory flowers at the base of the branches, too. Plus, a matching arch greeted guests at the beginning of the aisle. Along the crisp white aisle, we placed boxes holding bursts of more ivory and pink flowers. Inside the stunning ballroom, more branches, including curly willow, formed large arrangements on the round tables, dressed with hanging glass votives. Long wood... Read More

Unlikely combinations of colors and textures are what we LIVE for here at Butterfly! When Shirin and Arsalan wanted to bring in black to a rustic theme at their Saddlerock Ranch wedding, we were 100% in. We made the black element work by keeping the rest of the color palette simple: White with greenery. Greenery bought in the rustic texture, and white gave the black a clean-cut, pristine counterpoint. We wound ruscus and white flowers around black arches on their ceremony aisle, and kept the greenery at a minimum for their all-white centerpieces in the reception. This monochromatic approach at the reception let the rustic wood of their tables really shine. The black napkins and chairs at the reception tables... Read More

During the COVID lockdown, many churches were closed for health and safety reasons. Priscilla and Will wanted to bring the church outside for their wedding – and we were thrilled to help set the scene! The couple rented church pews for ceremony seating (courtesy of Found Rentals) and we created a beautiful backdrop consisting of wood pieces echoing the stained glass windows of a traditional church. Tons of greenery and white flowers accented the arches. We also added an arch at the end of the aisle featuring actual doors – just like the entrance of a church. The reception space was a beautiful tent with swagging and more greenery. A black and white scheme reflected in chameleon chairs, linens, and... Read More

Calamigos Ranch offers a whimsical, pastoral venue for weddings. Jessika and Adrian married among the dreamy trees and hanging lights in the Pavilion ceremony space; then, guests partied among nearby carnival rides and under Calamigos’ elegant tent. Our round ceremony structure, decorated with white roses, served as a dramatic backdrop for the couple. The natural mix of white flowers and greenery continued through the cocktail hour and reception space. We dressed the fireplace mantel with lots of gorgeous flowers, and moved the ceremony backdrop to the reception space to add visual impact to the sweetheart table. Jewel tones bring a deep vibrancy to an event, an unexpected bold vibe. Flowers come in so many gem-like hues, that for Jamie and Rusty we had a ton of options to work with. We focused on pinks, reds, and purples, with accents of blush to keep the look from seeming too ‘heavy.’ The Oaks Room ceremony space at Calamigos Ranch features a natural-looking arch that we decorated with lots of pink, purple, and red flowers as well as greenery to impart a loose, organic feel. We also decorated a chuppah to stand underneath the arch, adding lots of greenery along the posts. In the reception, loads of flowers accented every space, including the fireplace, along the tables, and cascading... Read More

For many weddings, the wedding chuppah is the first thing guests see and presents an opportunity to make a big impact with wedding design. Most importantly, the chuppah is an important symbol of Jewish weddings. We try to make every chuppah special and unique, and for Nicole and Mateen’s Saddlrock Ranch wedding, we created a large, lush structure to shelter the couple and their family during their wedding vows. Tree trunks supported the chuppah, and each corner held full greenery and flowers; the chuppah looked as if it were created by four trees. We collected white wildflowers at the base of each ‘tree’.’ Natural florals lined the white catwalk aisle for a cohesive, organic look. We added gold accents to... Read More

Cameron and Ander wanted soft but striking colors and textures for their Hummingbird Nest Wedding this past July, particularly peach and green. The ceremony featured a stunning garland bordering a vintage door, for a one-of-a-kind backdrop to their vows. Spiky protea mixed in with lush greenery and pretty roses added an unexpected pop of playfulness. Peach, sage green, and gold elements mixed with ornamental touches of fruit and antiqued wood pillar candle holders. Along with vintage-style cutlery and glassware and wood tables, their dinner reception felt like it took place on the grounds of a grand estate.
