Event designers think a lot about chairs. Yes, chairs. Back in the day, choices for seating for special events were few – as in, two types of chairs: folding and chiavari. Now, you have chameleon, Louis IV, Ghost chairs…the list goes on! This diverse array of colors and shapes in event chairs gives designers more elements to play with. For Alyson and Philip’s big day at Monarch Beach, we provided rich, textural white florals with touches of greenery to provide a pretty counterpoint to sleek, sophisticated black “Washington” and “Dior” chairs. What seem like small details add up to impactful design statements at wedding ceremonies. For Michelle and Ryan’s event, we criss-crossed orchids along the structural supports of their wedding chuppah for a beautiful diamond pattern, emblematic of the bride’s engagement ring and symbolic of their lives joining forever. We worked with a palette of crisp white with mirrored accents, including the chic mirror seating ‘chart’. Inside the reception space – draped to set off the drama of the decor – we lined tables with sumptuous centerpieces and garlands of white florals, cascading down to the floor. When you first think of a summer wedding, light, bright colors come to mind – whites, pinks, green, yellow. But this wedding at Hummingbird’s Nest Ranch proves that black, yes, black, can add a sophisticated touch to any event. Marjan and Julian chose the broad vistas of Hummingbird’s Nest Ranch for their wedding, the perfect blank canvas for their vision. A large pergola-style structure encompassed a lounge area, tables, and dance floor for the reception; the ceremony featured a mirror walkway, mirrored chuppah, and tons of white flowers, including callas and orchids.
